This book is dedicated to the men and women who shaped Warren & Brown’s first 100 years.
Their endeavour is an inspiration for those making the next 100.
Warren & Brown’s story travels from the motoring highway to the information superhighway.
It is the story of engineering ingenuity capable of inventing a famous dual-signal torque wrench
as well as life-saving equipment and a world-standard system for fibre optics.
The story of this company – born in Footscray, Victoria, then sold to Repco and later rescued by five
managers who risked all to keep it afloat – is one of survival despite eviction, the global financial crisis
and a gamble that could have cost them the lot.
Warren & Brown is an old company yet as spry as any start-up. Crucially, it pivoted towards the
delivery of high-speed broadband communication at its inception and became its safekeeper.
Its story demonstrates that Australian manufacturing and design are alive and well,
living in Maidstone and exporting to the world.
