This IP65 rated, outdoor type, junction box is used at Remote End Radio sites, to provide a connection point for single fibre working (SFW), and a – 48V DC power connection. Up to three of these boxes are used with a TC4029CWDM1 (main) coupler box to provide dual wavelength transmission from 3 x RRU sites back to the Exchange over a single optical fibre. The box contains: a twin A/SC patch panel, guiding clips, and a mounting position for the – 48V DC connectors. Two external type cable glands are provided for entering optical fibre and power cables. A connecting cable assembly is provided separately. The cables are housed in an 800mm long, black, flexible, convoluted tube. One end has a sealing gland that fits into a mating slot in the box. The other end has a rubber boot that attaches to the radio equipment housing, to make a weatherproof connection. The connecting cable contains: 2 x patchcords of A/SC to LC connectors; and a – 48V DC connecting cable. The box end is terminated in power connectors. The RRU power cable end is to be terminated on site using power connectors supplied in the accessory kit. The box has stainless steel mounting brackets for screw mount or using “band-it” type SS fastening straps (available separately). The cover of the box is secured using 4 x screws.
