The OFS provides a termination point for external optical fibre cables, where they are fusion spliced to pigtails and connected to patch cords, which subsequently connect to transmission equipment. This is achieved in a neat, organized and orderly manner, as a separate guidance system is provided for outgoing patch cord groups, from every 72 or 96 fibre splice/patch subrack.

The OFS allows for growth over time for a suite of equipment racks.

The OFS maintains the MBR for optical fibre cords at 30mm, as it is equipped with a system of cylindrical guides. The OFS allows at one point for: testing cable fibres; service restoration by manually changing fibres used; and fault finding activities. A major feature of the subrack is the minimum amount of movement that occurs to loose tubes and optical fibre cords, as the subrack opens and closes. This ensures a very high degree of protection for working services. Also, the fusion splices and pigtails are located in a protected position, because there is very little chance of them being disturbed when patch cords are being installed, as the subracks tray only needs to be opened a very small amount.

  • The OFS features a lower cable termination level and an upper patch cord management level
  • The OFS is used in a suite of Racks, normally at the end of a suite
  • These frames efficiently manage long excess lengths of optical fibre cords; whilst maintaining the MBR everywhere at 30mm
  • In the OFS termination area, a group of 6 subracks can be installed. These can terminate either:  6 x 72 = 432 optical fibres, or  6 x 96 = 576 optical fibres
  • The upper level cord management area is for managing outgoing long length patch cords
  • Entering optical fibre cable enters in a discrete channel on the top, rear LHS of the OFS
  • The OFS has separation panels to keep  optical fibre cables separate from the cords
  • The cord management area has separation panels to keep outgoing optical fibre cords in a defined, separate, managed, outlet route
  • Achieves well managed, orderly and neat layout for outgoing patch cords, and redirection of patch cords
  • Supplied with 1 x 72 fibre splice/patch subrack (Part No:  60083221067081): or 1 x 96 fibre splice/patch subrack (Part No:  60083221396081R)
  • Other 72 fibre splice/patch subracks (Part No:  60083221067081); or 96 fibre splice/patch subracks (Part No:  60083221396081R); available separately – can hold either 6 x 72 or 6 x 96 fibre splice/patch subracks
  • Two, Ø88mm O.D. convoluted tubes connect into each side of the rack above the cord management side
  • ESD strap connection point provided
  • Purchase as a frame, with 1 x 72 fibre subrack, or 1 x 96 fibre subrack. For future expansion purchase more 72 fibre or 96 fibre subracks
