The OM3 cord is “laser optimized” to achieve high performance at both 850 and 1300nm wavelengths. This MMOF OM3 cord is used to make pigtails and patch cords. It is 2.0mm overall dia., aqua cord. The cord is manufactured to recognized and approved industry standards, and will achieve a 20 year service lifetime, under typical operational conditions. The MMOF OM3 cord is capable of reliable operation in Exchanges or Repeaters over the temperature range of -20°C to +70°C and up to high levels of RH. A duplex cord comprises two single fibre cords, joined side by side. The duplex cord is easily separated into single cords, if required. This cord can withstand 10 full turns (360°) twists over a one metre length, without causing any significant increase in attenuation. However for best performance when using the duplex cord, full twists are best avoided. A single optical fibre cord has the following features: 50µm core dia; 125µm cladding dia; and a 900µm tight buffered jacket. The cord has an aramid yarn (eg Kevlar) strength member provided under a PVC sheath. An individual cord has physical properties of: minimum tensile strength of 100 N; an MBR of 30mm; ability to withstand a small crushing load; ability to withstand a small impact load; and ability to pass a standard edge bend test.
