This SMOF, duplex cord x “L” metres long, is supplied with a 2.0mm dia optical fibre duplex cord as standard. The SMOF meets G657D specification, with no water peak in the wavelength profile graph. A duplex (figure “8”) cord comprises two single fibre cords, joined side by side. The duplex cord is easily separated into single cords, if required. This cord can withstand 10 full turns (360o) twists over a one metre length, without causing any significant increase in attenuation. However for best performance when using the duplex cord, full twists are best avoided. A single optical fibre cord has the following features: 9µm core dia; 125µm cladding dia; and a 900µm tight buffered core. The cord has an aramid yarn (eg Kevlar) strength member provided under a LSZH yellow sheath. An individual cord has physical properties of: minimum tensile strength of 100 N; an MBR of 25mm; ability to withstand a small crushing load; ability to withstand a small impact load; and ability to pass a standard edge bend test. The cord meets RoHS requirements. The working temperature range for the cord is from 0o C to 50o C. The storage temperature range is from – 40o C to + 65o C. The cord meets the test specified in IEC 60794.
