When using Dexgreen closures in the telecommunications network, it is imperative to ensure that correct product handling and installation procedures are followed.

Following the outlined procedures and adhering to the high level of best practice, will ensure compliance in the Telstra and NBN copper access network.

The following information should be followed, which outlines some fundamental Do’s and Don’ts, when using Dexgreen products.

  • Clean all cables and inner walls of closures with wipes provided
  • Abrade all cables and closure ports circumferentially using abrading strips provided
  • Re-clean after abrading
  • Don’t have grease on hands contaminate closure walls
  • Don’t have grease from cables contaminated closure walls
Contamination Contamination
  • Follow work instructions for plastic bag
  • Use plastic bag to form a tunnel to avoid grease contamination
  • Don’t have grease on hands contaminate closure walls
  • Don’t have grease from cables contaminated closure walls
Retain and Separate Cables Retain and Separate Cables
  • Use a cable jig to separate cables
  • Use a cable retainer to retain cables at the base of the closure
  • Don’t bunch cables together
  • Don’t allow cables to touch the walls of the closure or each other

  • Cut unit whippings
  • Fan out conductors
  • Dispense sealant into centre of fanned out conductors
  • Don’t bunch conductors
Sealant Storage Sealant Storage
  • Store sealant in original packaging until ready to use
  • Store sealant in cool environment
  • Don’t heat the sealant in any way to speed up gel time
  • This will affect performance

  • Always use mixing nozzle
  • Dispense first 10ms of sealant to equalise the cartridge
  • Don’t reuse mixing nozzle
  • Don’t move cables while the sealant is setting

  • Insert into mesh bag
  • Tie to conductor bundle
  • Sign and date pride tag and install on dome
